How to get rid of ticks that have settled in the mattress? Drawing a portrait of the enemy
A mattress is constantly covered with keratinized skin particles and dust, and it absorbs sweat and excess skin secretions. As a result, it becomes infested with dust mites, which you can tell by the following symptoms:
Redness appears on your skin;
You experience discomfort while sleeping, caused by a stuffy nose, allergic rhinitis or chest tightness;
redness and tearfulness of the eyes;
skin itching, sneezing;
allergic dermatitis, dry cough.
If you suffer from one or more of the above conditions, it is better to order dry-cleaning of the mattress at home, because the cause of your suffering is the dust mite.
How to get rid of mites in a mattress and prevent their appearance?
Proper care will allow you to protect your mattress from the reproduction of bacteria, sweat odor. Consider a few recommendations:
1, and preferably 2 times a week, wash the bedding in hot water;
Every month, remove dust and other surface dirt, using a vacuum cleaner, wash the quilt;
Once every six months, order a wet dry-cleaning to remove dust, debris, epidermal particles, as well as stains and odors;
Once a year perform a major cleaning of the bed: washing or replacing the cushions, cleaning the upholstery, headboard, lamellae;
Remember to change bedclothes every 2-3 years, pillows after 3 years (with annual washing), a blanket once in 5-7 years, a mattress once in 6-7 years.
The water temperature used for washing must be +60 C or more, otherwise you will not be able to remove mites and other microorganisms. Before applying this recommendation, be sure to study the care recommendations for each type of product (they are printed on the brand label).
Tip: Don’t forget to wet clean the area under the bed once a week, because modern models are equipped with a lattice bottom. It looks nice and provides natural ventilation, but such a bottom has one significant disadvantage: the dust, rising from the slightest draught, settles on the bottom of the mattress. For cleaning, use clean water, a mild soap solution or trusted household chemicals.
How can I get rid of sweat odor on my mattress with proven remedies?
To combat the unpleasant smell, you can apply baking soda, which has absorbent properties. Doing such a job is time-consuming and difficult due to the size of the mattresses. If you want to test this method, follow the instructions:
Remove coarse debris and dust from the product, using a vacuum cleaner and cloth napkins;
Take 2-3 packages of soda 500 g each, generously sprinkle the surface of the mattress, evenly distribute the dry raw materials;
Leave the soda for 48 hours. At the end of the specified period, remove the powder, and then repeat the procedure, treating the other half of the product.
Before working, the area under the bed should be covered with construction film or an old cloth, otherwise the soda will get into every corner of the room. The procedure is long, it allows you to eliminate odors, but not stains. To combat the latter, foam is used, which is distributed over the dirt and left for 30 minutes. After half an hour, the foam should be removed with a soft cloth napkin, and the surface of the product should be steamed using an iron. This method is more effective, it allows you to perform surface thermal disinfection.
Important! If the mattress is high, then in its deep layers, even after heat treatment will remain sweat, skin secret, microorganisms and bacteria.
